| Cover to Cover Book Club – Come and join a group of avid readers who love to share their thoughts on the latest books. The group self-selects the books they wish to discuss. This is an informal group and welcomes new comers. Thursdays: 1:00pm – 3:00pm Free to Members/ $5.00 non-membersKnitting Circle – Are you a knitter? Have you always wanted to learn? Would you like to create a project for a loved one, yourself or a child in need? Join a delightful bunch of knitters every Wednesday for tips, teaching and lively conversation. Those who crochet and do needle point are also welcome. Wednesdays: 12:30pm – 3:30pm Free to members/ $5.00 for non-members the Mizell Lunch Club - Mizell Seniors meet once a month at a different eating establishment for Lunch. Each Person is responsible for their bill and share of the tip. This group meets the last Wednesday of every month at 11:30am. Manhattan of the Desert will be the March 2013 meeting place. Must be a mizell member or spouse or partner of a member to participate. Movie of the Week - Through the generosity of Desert Oasis Health Care the Mizell Center is pleased to show a movie every week. Bring your friends and join the Mizell family for popcorn and a great time at the movies. Pick up a monthly schedule of the movies at the Center, check the calendar on our website, or call the Center at 760-323-5689 for this week’s selection. March 2013 is Jimmy Stewart Month – The FBI Story, Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation, The Rare Breed and Harvey Walk Among the Stars… 4 Neighborhood Walks -Join your friends and Roger Freeman, an aficionado of celebrity homes, as he leads a tour through a different neighborhood each week sharing the history of the stars that lived there. This is a great way to see the various neighborhoods of Palm Springs and have a healthy walk at the same time. This program will resume in April 2013 Widows and Widowers Social Group – Widows and Widowers is a social group (not a bereavement group) that meets weekly for a social program. Each week there is a different speaker who presents on interesting and varied topics. Participants may choose to go to lunch with the group at a different restaurant every week. Some of the group also meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month for a happy hour at different establishments in the desert and they have a “dine out” the third Wednesday of each month. |
