Mizell Senior Center of Palm Springs is now offering a Senior Fall Prevention Program. This program isFall prevention program designed to teach Older Adults several steps they can take to protect their independence and reduce their chances of falling. The classes will include education on fall risks, medication management, vision checking and improvement, home hazard assessment and modification coupled with a variety of exercise programs. The program lasts for six weeks. Watch our calendar for the next scheduled class.  In the meantime, you can take our ongoing Balance Classes to help you prevent a devastating fall.  See the information below.

This Fall Prevention Course is the only one in the Coachella Valley modelled after The Centers for Disease Control recommendations for preventing falls among older adults.  At the end of the course, participants will also receive a free home safety visit from a qualified professional who will perform a safety inventory and make recommendations for changes.  This course is funded in part by a generous grant from The Community Foundation of Riverside and San Bernardino.

Each year, one in every three adults age 65 and older falls. Falls can lead to moderate to severe injuries such as hip fractures and head traumas and can even increase the risk of early death.
